Hello Ken,
i live in PA, about 2 hours from the OH border to be exact. I have hibernated my snakes in the basement of my current house, but it's easy for me to get that low because i have a room under my garage that is not heated at all. Pretty much whatever the temp is outside it's that cold in the room. Gets down into the 20's (and lower i'm sure) many a nights. I actually had to put the snakes and a heater in a room beside this one under the garage and warm it up on some weeks of cold snaps. But i've also kept snakes previously in cooler closets that are on outside walls. This is great because it's dark, quiet, cool, and usually didn't get much traffic. I think you can hibernate your colubrids (most of them at least) at 60-65 degrees and still have breeding success. If you have any other questions or concerns feel free to e-mail me directly.
Have a good one, and best of luck with all your snakes this winter!

>>Hi: I've been reading up on pines on hibernating them in preperation for breeding and the book by walls mentions hibernating them at 52 degrees, and I wondered if this is really true how does everybody get to that low a temp.
>>Even if i put them in my basement it still would never be that cool.
>>Hope you all can help!
>>Thanks KEN

>>P.S. I live in Ohio
