The great digging experiment......

lilroach56 Jun 21, 2004 08:39 AM

hey. I’ve finally decided to get together a diggable substrate for my leo. I made a new cage (10 gallon) filled with about 5" of potting soil (organic, no additives), a water dish, two 6" terra cotta flower pot hides, and a large calcium dish. I will put lexy in as soon as the temps go up. I will keep everyone updated.

Hey- good luck, it can be really funny when they get up the diggin' urge. I had a live plants, jungle mix/sand mix terrarium in a 45 gal, and they really loved it. One warning: Beatrice recently laid eggs in there, and not in her lay box. I had to dig up all 45 gallons of stuff, and still only found one, which was dried out by then. If your not breeding though, lexy will love it. You might want to mix in some calci sand or gravel so it's not too moist, esp. if you mist it.
