MY SNAKE GAVE BIRTH!!!

SERPENTGUY Jun 21, 2004 11:56 AM

Had 9 live babies and 2 slugs

anything in particular i have to do for the babies besides keep them in high humidity?

Is a heat pad neccesary if i can get the proper heat from a light?

the babies were born from a orange phase male and a red phase female, are the babies going to be a blend between orange and red or orange and red?

Anything other tips for having babies......

I don't know much about neonates, but seperate them from the Mother and do as you normally would for a young BRB. Temps are more crucial as is humidity.

Post some pics soon!

I am very happy for you!

Click that link above the posts that says JClarksnakes. I think you'll have some red, some orange, and all the in betweens. Just don't dry 'em or fry 'em.

The hard part is....which do YOU keep?

Have fun,
Linda

BRB's shy away from light...infact it will stress them out. I like to use a UTH on a reostat, so it doesn't get to hot. Mid 80's is about as high as you want to go. I snug hide box and a water bowl large enough to soak...

By the way, how big is your female?

Good luck, Chris

females about 4.5 5ft

I think 9 was an alright litter for her.

YOU BET i'm excited, i had to tell everybody about it and the hardenst part is trying not to look at them ever 3 seconds. i can already see a lot of color differences and cant wait till after there first shed.

When will i start seeing wghich ones are orange and red, etc..?
Is it ok if i keep them in the same tank but seperate for feeding?

I woundn't house more than 2 together...and I would only do that if I absolutely had to. That will create a TON of stress on the animals. You can buy 6qt sterilite shoe boxes for about 98 cents at Wal-Mart (EVIL,EVIL,EVIL,EVIL,EVIL....). It's a cheap way to house your little ones.

Good luck, Chris

i'm going to sell most of them but keep maybe 2. I know i'm def. going to keep at least 1.

I was going to buy shoebox size sterilites for all of them but if i do that i wouldn't be able to heat them w/ an overhead light, just a heat pad. How would any of you heat them if you had to house them in those shoeboxes?

will be posting pictures soon
