tank size

3 by 2 is fine for a male, I would go with 4 by 2 for a female.

If you have a choice between taller or longer, I'd go with longer. If your tank is tall, and you provide your snake with things to climb on, it will likely utilize them, but a longer tank gives them more room to, y'know... stretch their legs. (Pun intended.)

I've got Ty in a 15-Gallon high aquarium, which I've had since I was about twelve... (I don't even know if they make them anymore... I haven't seen one for sale in years) and he seems to be doing fine in it for now, but I'll be moving him to something longer when he grows a bit.
