Question about a problem feeder....

dmac77 Jun 21, 2004 03:50 PM

I've got an adult snow corn male that is being really reluctant to eat for some reason. He has eaten without hesitation up until about three and a half weeks ago. Suddenly, he just refused to eat his mouse. At first, he wouldn't even touch them. Now, he will take the mouse and swallow it about half way and the toss it back out. I don't know what to do.... any advice or help would be appreciated. It's going on four weeks since he last ate. Not sure what to do, but I'm getting worried about him.

Thanks

Dave

Try switching over to smaller prey and see if that makes a difference. One of my ratsnakes was refusing his rat fuzzies recently, and I offered him some mouse fuzzies instead. That seemed to suit him just fine (3 of 'em!). At least one of my other snakes has gone through a period of refusing the meals she had grown into, but taking much smaller prey.

If the snake seems otherwise healthy, don't worry too much just yet. He may have other things on his little snake mind this time of year. Good luck. Duffy
