Is there a "red" Vent, and other questions about Vents?

shopaholic May 14, 2003 12:15 AM

Hi Gang:

So, I've been trying to decide between the Imitators and the Vents. Folks have told me that Vents are a better choice for a first thumbnail. A few first inital questions about Vents:

1. I saw that there is a Red Vent. I saw a picture but it didn't look quite red. Is there such a color of a Vent and is there care differences between the regular vent vs. the Red vent?

2. Can I keep the Vents in a group just like the Imitators?

3. Cost. Are they pretty much the same costs? Imitators to Vents and Regular vent to Red vent?

4. Food: Will they only take the Small ff, and Springtails? Will they eat whiteflies, those small worms from flour moths?

5. Wheres a good site to look at about them?

Thanks gang!

here is a page with some good pics of red vents, you will see that they are drastically differnt in color from normal yellow vents. Last time i saw some for sale they were much more expensive that normal vents, and were in the 125-200 dollar price range. That was about a year ago however, so maybe the prices have come down some, but i still would not expect them to be at the same price as normal vents. As far as i am aware their care is very similar to that of d. imitator.
