12 Mice a feeding...

HEFTE Jun 21, 2004 04:54 PM

I have read all the posts about how to get your JCP to switch to rats and have tried all of them. Anyway, I'm done trying and have come to grips with feeding my 7 footer just mice. My question is, how many should i be feeding. She never seems full. I usually go up a mouse everytime she sheds, which is now around 12. I really am not sure if I should be feeding more or less. She digests and poops within three days, consistently. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance. Eric-

I've heard of people having many problems with switching. One suggestion, Don't ever start with mice, do Pinkies, then do RAT Pinkies and rat fuzzies. Try anything other then rats? Rabbits? Gerbils? Etc. Obviously a full grow JCp couldn't take a full grown rabbit but baby rabbits, there bigger then mice and have more nutrients to them.

The other thing, Why is a 7 ft JCP just now being switched to rats?
Go with smaller rats, Barely bigger then mice, Its summer the Rats look like mice for some reason.

If you can get them...they are usually cheaper than rats and will fill up your jungle in one big meal. No more waiting for a dozen mice to be consumed!! Carpets love the pigs!!!

...As the hair and skin are very difficult to digest and can be difficult on snake's digestion.

If you can find these, Use them. No Hair yet, and are a good staple food (I think).

I bought her when she was 6 months old, knew very little about JCP's, or more specifically, about thier aversion to rats. I fed her hoppers for a while and did some research and started to switch. I scented, fed a mouse then a rat, starved her, on and on to no avail. It's just getting out of control. There is a feed store here in the city that sells rabbits but they get them when they are about six weeks old, larger than a kitten. They do have chicks, which she will eat but she digests them within a day. Poops and hunts in 24 hours. I have tried every other kind of rodent, she kills em' and leaves em'. I was just wondering if anyone knew how to know how many bites it takes to fill a snake?

Ask the feed store who gets there rabbits, or hell do it yourself male and female throw them in a cage outside and give them food and 6 or so weeks laterthere you go you got rabbits, Local Newspapers for people giving away Rabbits, etc. I know that sounds mean but if you get to free adult rabbits and feed the babies the adults have a good home? lol Just a thought. Thats all i know what to do, my coastals take 2-3 rabbits, rats, chicks, whatever you feed them they eat. Im sorry if that didn't help.
