Shipping with USPS???

restlesswind444 Jun 21, 2004 08:10 PM

I need to ship a gecko from New Jersey to Miami, FL. The I've been told that I could use USPS and that it saves money (which it does). I just have never heard of using USPS before, they say that if I ship tomorrow it is guaranteed delivery by wednesday 3pm...anyone ever done this before? and over such a long distance? NJ to FL? Any comments and help would be greatly appreciated as this package is to go out tomorrow.
Thanks,
Chris

Also, with express overnight shipping will USPS give me a tracking #?

Hi,
Best way to do it if you go USPS is to go USPS office to USPS office and have them hold it for the customer to pick up.
I have sent USPS without problem (not office to office) but they can run late so it is best to ship office to office.
I haven’t had any DOA's you do have to be very careful as you can add a day. A good thing to do is find out how close the receivers is to the Post Office - being they are 2 blocks away doesn't ensure that they will get it - that’s why having the POST office hold it at their end for them to pick up... is probably be better. I have had things show up...at 2pm in my city. but was never notified. it sat there in the US Post Office...all night for no reason. So although it sounds easy to have them just deliver - there is an extra time gap that doesn’t really have to occur.
That being said if it is Office to Office you can call and track and pick it up - more likely quicker.
Hope that helps, Steve
