gecko genetics

skater2337 Jun 22, 2004 12:10 AM

my friend has a regular leopard gecko and is looking to start breeding. i am posting this for him. he was wondering if he mixed his regular gecko with another color morph (tangerene, albino, blizzard, carrot tail, ect.) what the outcome would be. does anyone know which genes are dominant or recessive in leopard geckos?

Most likely he would get normals. I bred my nomal male to my albino female and got normals. Hope this helps. Here's one of their babies.

1.3.0 Normals
0.3.0 Albinos
1.0.0 Giant albino
0.1.0 Normal giant het for albino
1.5.0 Tangerines
0.1.0 Patternless
0.0.1 Stripe
0.0.1 Very dark circle back
2.0.0 Albino hets

http://www.freewebs.com/stinauiuc/morphdescriptions.htm

Has a good list of the morphs and if they are dominant or recessive, and

has a good genetics calculator.

Hope that helps.
