So i found out that griffon has mites yesterday. I picked him up to put him in the tub for a soak and his poor belly was red and i saw a buggie on him.
i am soo upset because i have NEVER had mites in my house before. I went a bit nuts and cleaned out everything, put his 55g outside, threw out all of his things and stuck him in a 10g with papertowels and a heat pad. He is pretty unhappy presently. I sprayed him with deflea...then found out that he was shedding. i will coat him in snake oil tonite, and clean out his hospital tank totally.
I ordered some provent a mite online, should be here in a week. I will use that to spray down his larger tank and then i will be able to put him back in it (with paper towels of corse).
I think they may have come from a hide log i bought at an expo in april. The eggs do stay dormant for long periods of time, right? Well, i baked the log, but i didnt bleach it. Otherwise they came from petco...where i got griff. But i have had him since feb, and i havent seen any probs. I dunno...sigh...he is so upset in the tiny hospital tank he is in now. and im sure he is itchy. Im hoping that these dont spread to the other kids too. I could use some councling, if any one wants to offer any that would be great. Thanks alot!
