Questions questions everywhere

The breeder I bought my baby from said that he feeds rep-cal pellets and nothing else. This goes aganst what I have read saying a variety of foods is best.

Is it fine to just feed repcal or not? Any opinions would be appreciated.

Repcal juvie is a great food and is formulated to be a complete diet. That said, I don't think you'll find anyone here feeding it and only it. I use it as a staple on all of my dragons but they also get salad and live prey in addition to it.

in my opinion you shoulnt feed comercial diets. It is probably much healthier for bearded dragons to eat what the would naturally(insects and veggies). It just makes sense.

Heh. By that line of reasoning, I should feed my cats nothing but anoles & grass, with the occaisional squirrel & mildly poisonous tree frog or toad. ;}

Seriously, though, an awful lot of experienced beardie owners & breeders have had good results with Rep-Cal pellets (though, like Sean, I'm not sure if any of them feed pellets *only*).

My personal anecdotal evidence, for what it's worth, is that Oolong has gained over 4 inches & nearly 150 grams in the two months we've had him, & he eats primarily Rep-Cal pellets (he's offered a variety of greens, veggies, & fruit, as well as live prey every other day, but he eats very little of his salad beyond the green pellets). :}
