UPDATE - Boxie Trouble - Advice needed

sharib Jun 22, 2004 12:04 PM

About a week ago I posted some concerns about my Boxies. I have a pair of Three Toed box turtles I have had for bout 2 months. The male had quit eating, and I had never seen the female eat.

This morning I took out a plate of food and two gigantic earthworms. The female eyed one of the worms for a long time before grabbing a worm and running off with it. She ate all of it and then she came back and ate some waxworms, and fruit. YEAH!!!!

I was so pleased! I stood in the middle of the pen and watched them eat so long I made myself late for work this morning. They are finally adjusting to captivity. I am thrilled beyond words and just had to share with someone who would appreciate my excitment.

Yay! I totally understand how happy you are!
Being patient really does do the trick. I would stay away from the wax worms, because they are addictive! Meaning that if your turtles have them too often, they might not want anything else. I don't know what it is about those waxies.
