Can CGD be used as a supplement....(more)

Tigergenesis Jun 22, 2004 12:11 PM

I don't want to feed just the CGD as directed on the bottle. I'd like to feed fruit baby food and fresh fruit, but was wondering if I could use the CGD as a supplement (instead of getting a separate calcium and multivitamin supplement) for these meals. If so, what measurements should I use? I will also feed dusted and gutloaded crickets.

Also, I'd appreciate any recommendations of breeders of cresties. I've tried searching on the Internet, but most of the hits I get are for caresheets. I did find Sandfire Dragon Ranch.

Thanks!

My opinion for breeders would be the classifieds or Dragon's Den.

What I do is add the CGD directly to baby food or fresh fruit mixes. I just add "by feel" - until the baby food or fruit mix becomes a slightly darker color. What I have taken to doing recently is to gather up all the fresh fruit I have around the house that is on the verge of becoming over-ripe (I have an iguana, so I keep fruits on hand), and I blend them all together with a few jars of baby food and several heaping spoons of CGD, and then I freeze it and use as needed. The cresteds ADORE it.

Thank you, I didn't know if there was an exact measurement/science to it. you also answered another question of mine...I was wondering if it would be okay to add it to the food before freezing or if I had to wait and add it to the thawed food. Thanks!
