placement of my eggs!!

gavinclews Jun 22, 2004 01:44 PM

HI AGAIN EVERYONE. I RECENTLY READ A WEBSITE THAT SAID THAT WHEN YOUR BEARDIE LAYS HER EGGS, THE WAY YOU PLACE THEM IS THIS. CANDLE THE EGGS TO SEE IF THEY ARE FERTILE. IF THEY ARE YOU SHOULD SEE A CIRCLE OF VEINS SOMEWHERE ON THE EGG. IT SAYS YOU ARE TO PLACE THIS CIRCLE OF VEINS FACING UPWARDS BUT WHEN I PLACED MINE I DIDNT DO THIS. I JUST DUG THEM UP AND PLACED THEM IN MY VIRMICULITE HOW THEY LAY.I DIDNT WANT TO TURN THEM OR ANYTHING. SO MY QUESTION IS SHOULD YOU PLACE THEM LIKE THIS? DOES IT MATTER IF YOU DO OR NOT? I SEEM TO BE GETTING A LOT OF VARIED OPINIONS FROM PEOPLE AND DONT KNOW WHO KNOWS WHAT. EXPERIENCED BREEDERS HELLLLPPP!!

I try to get to my eggs as soon as they're laid. If you do this the embryos haven't had time to settle and placement doesn't really matter (I usually lay mine on their side). If they have had time to sit for a while it's best to place them how you find them. It all has to do with an airpocket in the egg and drowning the embryo if it gets moved too suddenly.

MY EGGS ARE A WEEK AND 2 DAYS OLD. IS IT POSSIBLE TO DO THIS NOW AR SHOULD I LEAVE THEM ALONE?

I'd leave them alone at this point, when I say I try to get to them as soon as they're laid I'm talking within hours or sooner(I'm not sure how long it actually takes).
