I had the same problem before... that Baytril really doesnt always work, espescially for cronic R.I. problems.

Some people brought to my attention an Antibiotic called Tylan. its an antibiotic for cattle/swine R.I. but works VERY VERY well in Reptiles as well. It's over-the-counter so you can get it at most cattle/feed stores. Ask your vet about it..

I wrote this big thing on it here -> http://www.nyxie.com/reptiles/tylan.htm

Worth the time to read. I have thus far given to to three different types of snakes with R.I. After the first injection, all symptoms of R.I. have completely dissapeared and have had no symptoms since. Tylan should be more readily known about! Hope this helps

Ps. If anyone has ever had bad experience with Tylan.. I would LOVE to know about it, I don't know of any so far.

...Interesting to hear of your good luck with Tylan. This is an erythromycin-type antibiotic and I would NOT have guessed this to be of much use for RI's. You see we vets CAN have an open mind and we CAN learn from non-vets!! Scott J. Michaels DVM
