Heat Tape instruction?

lostkauze Jun 22, 2004 06:06 PM

Hi.
I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before, which it probably has, but I know alot of you guys use heat tape as opposed to heat mats.

I'm planning on building a rack this summer with those 3 plastic tubs (the ones used for office supplies or organization, the black ones with the clear sliding tubs). I was planning on running heat tape down the back of them.

I am by no means an electriction and have no knowledge on the subject, so please use small words (i understand undiscript words such as thingy). Basically, how do I use heat tape. I'd like to know everything from buying it to actually plugging it into an outlet and everything inbetween (dimmers, sizing, connection etc)

Any help would be great! Thanks you guys!

Michael

I used the beanfarm for my flexwatt tape and connectors. I would highly recommend getting the connector kits for each individual strip. Depending on if you have any electronics background, you may want to get the prestripped power cords. The sets com with instructions that are pretty easy to follow too.

You can buy the flexwatt here:

Here's a site on how to actually wire the flexwatt once you get it (Although the instructions that come with it say pretty much the same thing):
