heat tape help?

lostkauze Jun 22, 2004 06:08 PM

Hi.
I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before, which it probably has, but I know alot of you guys use heat tape as opposed to heat mats.

I'm planning on building a rack this summer with those 3 plastic tubs (the ones used for office supplies or organization, the black ones with the clear sliding tubs). I was planning on running heat tape down the back of them.

I am by no means an electriction and have no knowledge on the subject, so please use small words (i understand undiscript words such as thingy). Basically, how do I use heat tape. I'd like to know everything from buying it to actually plugging it into an outlet and everything inbetween (dimmers, sizing, connection etc)

Any help would be great! Thanks you guys!

Michael

I too would like to know how to use heat tape and where to buy it. I could ask my uncle-in-law electrician, but it might be embaressing. Nothing like the good ol' anonomys internet. (p.s. I'll run all info from here by him to get his opinion anyway, good to always double check)

Get your tape and everything you need for it at thebeanfarm.com. They have the best prices and if you call them, talk to John. He was really helpful with all my questions and very pleasant to deal with. He'll even send you some info via email that you can print out on connecting.
