Tribolontus are too easily stressed and it wouldn't be good for the cresteds either. Trib's also love to bathe for example using a paint roller tray for them to take a dip in and this is no good for cresteds.

That answers my question then. If tribs are easily stressed, I doubt they'd appreciate a couple of Cresteds dive bombing crickets and squalking at eachother all night.

To be perfectly Honest the most important rule about mixing species in captivity is very easily remembered. DON'T DO IT. Some people think it is ok becaue they don't understand the problems or think big deal they won't run into each other. First off in captivity we want our animals to be healthy. Mixing any species of animals may introduce a parasite to the other that it would not normally encounter in the wild. Also thinking that they won't run into each other is kind of rediculous in the fact that these animals are curious they like to roam and check things out. All it takes is one encounter to get ugly. I highly reccomend that you do not place these animals together. Even if their care are about the same..

While I personally don't mix species, I think it can be done if you take the needs of both (or all) species into consideration. I also would recommend that you only try this if you've kept both species for a reasonable amount of time so that you will be able to tell if something is wrong with any of the animals.
I know Philippe de Vosjoli (not exactly an inexperienced keeper) keeps pink tongue skinks with Cresteds and they do fine. I also know that croc skinks require nearly the same conditions, but spend their time on the ground, so it seems to me that if you were going to house another species with Cresteds, they would very likely be an ideal candidate.
However, I don't know enough about the dispositions of croc skinks (or tribolonotus in general) to even begin to speculate about how they would get along with the Cresteds. The one thing you need to take into consideration is that 99.999% of tribolonotus in the pet trade are wild caught and as such, are going to harbor some parasites.
Aside from the possibility of parasites, I don't think that it would hurt to give it a try. If you decide to try it, just make sure that the animals are of comparable size (so that one doesn't eat the other). I would also introduce them all to the tank at the same time and do it when you'll be able to spend a few hours monitoring their activity. This way, if something were to go wrong, you could separate them immediately.

Also Tribs like higher humidity and love a swim (paint trays are often used to great effect) and cresteds would not like this at all.
