Pastels 100% Het VPI Axanthic

Tracy Barker Jun 22, 2004 11:11 PM

Here is a pic of three pastels 100% het VPI axanthic with a normal pastel. We are anxious to see a VPI axanthic pastel--just need to raise these 2.1 up and breed them to an axanthic female and one of these males to it's sister to hopefully hit on an axanthic pastel and an axanthic super pastel!

This is very interesting, Our het Axanthics have an axanthic look to them. So I can see we they have a look thats half way there. Sweet project,I cant wait to see the end product.

Do your het VPI axanthics tend to be black backs too?

Maybe other lines tend to be a little co-dominant too like Corey Woods’ line.

No,more banded-reduced pattern. I have seen some nice black back axanthics,Wyatt had a smoken one last year. I bet you could work it in with some nice girls.

Tracy,

Those should rock!! Can't wait until those little gems hatch.
Your axanthics are definately the best money can buy.

did all the pastel het vpi axanthic look like the ones u got there??? because i was wondering if u got poss. het axanthics and u breed them to a pastel....then u most likely be able to know which ones r hets and which ones r normal....

OZ the snake is a baby VPI axanthic hatched a few weeks ago. It is a 50% poss het albino.

re using poss hets to breed to a pastel-well the sample size is small regarding the look these 100% hets have, but if you are working on the project yourself and breed a male pastel to a poss het VPI axanthic female it would be really interesting to see if you could see the obvious difference. Certainly starting with a poss het VPI axanthic is a lot less expensive that an axanthic female!! Great idea-now I know what to breed these male pastels 100% het axanthics too!! I have several 50% females I have raised myself!! That is what is great though about producing any animal that is 100% het for something-when you breed it back, you just need a het or poss het to breed back to. Then the odds are on your side!

They are so beautiful! I can't wait to see the results of all your hard work! It will be hard to improve on the VPI axanthic but the pastel will definitely spice it up!

Congratulations!
