Hello, everyone! Sorry I’ve not posted much this year, but I’ve moved to China and haven’t been able to herp much. However, I did get to spend some time on Hainan Island in Southeast Asia recently and found a few interesting herps!
These Indo-Pacific geckos are everywhere! They do especially well in and around human dwellings. Notice the different colors they come in. Like chameleons, they change with their surroundings. There are no males of this species. Also, they chirp like birds and pant like dogs!
Another common species is this agama. They are also common around human dwellings. Notice the beautiful colors of the males! The bathtub shot is a female.
This is another agama species. I only saw this one and it was on a tree in the middle of a tropical rain forest while climbing a mountain.
Another interesting creature found on that trip. Almost as big as my hand!
These big, diurnal skinks were very common:
I saw a few snakes, but they were very quick and I was only able to photo this one. It was trapped in a fountain at a park. Any idea what species it is?
Happy Herping!
