I need help. I was given a chubby frog that has a bloody wound near one of its eyes. AND the other eye is cloudy..which I am assuming means blindness. The frog is a large, fat sucker, so I am assuming the rest of it is ok. Although, it has not taken any crickets from me...yet.

Is there anything I can use on the open wound?? I did give it a soaking with melachite green.. and the petco he came from has been soaking him in the melachite blue for couple days...

I will continue to soak every day. But I dont know if it will do any good. It is so close to the eye, I am very wary about using anything.

Any Advice??? Unfortunately, I am not able to afford a vet for several weeks. So any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

I usually apply a polysporin to the wound. Keep the frog on lightly damp (not saturated) paper towels with background on all sides of the tank. Try to keep him warm and quiet and disturb him only when you must. Boost the temp up a few degrees from what it has been as well. This can help frogs fight infection, which is a concern since he has an open wound.
