breeding veileds worth it for hobbyists?

vtbigyellow Jun 23, 2004 02:34 AM

hello everyone, i was just wondering on your opinions of breeding veileds. i'm a hobbyist, not a breeder, and i would love to breed my chams some day but was wondering if i'd make my money back breeding my veileds or if i should just stick with the ambilobes. i wouldnt really be in it for the money, but more for the experience. who buys veileds and for how much? i would just want to get the money i invested back out of it. thanks everyone~

Someone once told me as far as veileds go, it's more for the experience. I am a future veiled breeder and don't care about the profits, although some would be nice.
I'm not a panther person, but anyone on this forum would probably say to stick with the ambilobes, and if you want, breed veileds ocne or twice to see how you like it, or to put the species on your bred species list. They usually sell online at 2-3 months for 40-75$ and in stores you will get a similar price if they will buy from you. Selling privately you could sell a 2-3 month old for 50-100$, or a sub-adult for 100-150$.

Those selling prices mihtr be messed up, I'm in Canada and the dollar is different, but generally I think it's similar.
