Looking for info on burm/retic cross

drkind Jun 23, 2004 11:16 AM

Hi,

First off let me say I'm new to this from, but have been keeping snakes for about 15 years.Mostly burms, retics, and boa's. But have worked with others too.

I used to breed burms, and this year I plan to try retics. But when I was looking up info on retics I found some(very little) info on a cross.

I have soooo many ?'s abot this cross, Like do you use a female burm or is the retic the female? How many eggs would Hatch? I read that many don't make it.

Any info will help!

Thanks.

If you would like some info on these crosses you could probably go to nerd's website I believe they produced some bateaters, and then when breeding them back to a retic they produce jungle retics, I would try e-mailing them and seeing what info you could get from them. I do know that a guy named tom crutchfield tried selling these crosses a few years ago saying they were a new imported species of snake, and he was calling them borneo bateaters, and the name kind of stuck. They are quite beautiful imo though, from what I understand this cross has a very low infertility rate, although you may get them to breed together and even have eggs, many of them if not all could be infertil.

thanks for the info, I had heard they were called bateaters and was wondering how they got that name.

I will e-mail nerd and see what they say.

Thanks
