Feeding question.

make_urself Jun 23, 2004 12:54 PM

OK i know this post come up every day or so and im sorry for being redundant but i have a quick question. I just got my frozen feeders from rodentpro and am very happy. Its just my albino will strike and constrict with no probs at all but still doesnt wanna eat it. He took knocked out prey with no probs at all for the few weeks before the feeders came and now he wont eat the frozens. Any quick tricks to get him munchin? I tried scenting them but no go. Like I said, he strikes and all like at a normal rat but no go with munchin.

I am, by no means, an expert, but I have had some experiece. While working in a petstore back at home I encountered an albino burm that was about 4 feet long that did the EXACT same thing. We only fed our reptiles F/T animals, so we eventually just opened her mouth and put a little of it in there for her. We didn't force it in there...but we put enough in there until she finally got the idea. We never had a problem with her again after doing that twice.

I'm not so sure thats a good idea, I was told that force feeding a snake should be a last resort due to stress.

Well she finally ate. It was rather odd though. She would not touch the small rats...only mediums. Ive never seen her do that before, but hey if shes eating ill just give the smalls to my other young burm haha.
