silly cillie.
you shouldnt be doing the first and last things with your bearded dragon. outside there are parasites and mites. and those veggies might have pesticides or parasites on them. and your bearded dragons sleeps with you!!!??? what happens if you roll over on him at night. a bearded dragon isnt a stuffed animal. its a reptile and thats what it needs to be treated as.

she sleeps in a container with air holes at night. and the garden is pestiside free, and i have mite spray. if it'll make you feel better ill wash the plants first.

So Cillie, do you sleep with your collection of frogs too? If not, why does the dragon get such special treatment?

cillie Jun 23, 2004 02:45 PM

because she is just so special. the frogs are just wild adults i catch in my yard.

I don't think you are weird (a bit excentric maybe)....
I lost my Beardie recently and I have GREAT stories about how he traveled with me places (I once took him to work to show everyone that sometimes the Croc-hunter is full of s#@t!--he always shows animals that are p'd off!). I even made harnesses for him (which are now burried with him).

I respected that he was a reptile and not a dog or cat...but that doesn't mean I could love him and talk to him and cuddle with him (which I swear he cuddled back...as weird as that is). He would sleep on my chest for god sakes...if nothing else, he trusted me.!

You keep loving her!!!

This is only for you so don't tell anyone else but one thing I do is talk to my beardies like they're little puppy dogs.

thats what i do!

I know exactly how you feel.
I used to whisper things to ZZ all the time. He responded to my voice. I could calm him down by just loving him and talking softly to him.

I used to say to him every morning before I fed him, "you are my ZZ boy, good morning ZZ boy". Until the day he died, he would respond to that phrase. I could rub his beard and he would fall asleep.

When he would throw a fit (about going back to his tank), I could whisper to him "No fighting, it is ok" and he would calm himself down.

I think these things are what make them lovable. I don't care about what anyone else says, you can love something without hair!

Absolutely! Every time I take Oolong anywhere, we get swamped w/ curious onlookers. I let one lady pet him when she asked if she could, & she said "Ooh, he's all poke-y! Guess you can't really cuddle with that one, huh?" My response was "You'd be surprised." :D

Oolong is currently dozing in my lap as I type this (which is something, BTW, that none of our 11 cats will do ;D ). My fiance agrees when I say he's the only reptile I've ever known that I've wanted to snuggle, & it's *really* difficult, sometimes, to stop myself from kissing his nose. :}

I have a customer who sleeps with her BD too. Another customer who is in her 30's has 2 BDs and takes them out with her. she talks to them all the time. she also lets them free roam in her room and in her yard
