Hello. I have 1.1 WC Mangrove Snakes, Boiga dendrophila, that I otained on April 28, 2004. One is black/yellow, other is black/white, both between 4'-4.5'. I have been keeping them together in a 25-gallon aquarium (24" W x 12" D x 21" H) although I plan to move them to a V433 Vision Cage very soon. I keep their enclosure in the high 80's/low-mid 90's during the day via a 100W Exo-Terra daylamp (70's at night), spray them 1-2 times/day, provide a water bowl on the cool side probably big enough for both but at least one of them to fully submerge in, adaquate climbing branches, and Repti-Bark (by Zoo Med) as the substrate.

NOTE: Despite spraying them EXTREMELY heavily--usually twice a day--and providing a decent sized water container, both specimens have shed once with problems; I had to help them both about week after first shedding in pieces.

I have tried feeding them live and F/T adult mice as well as a gecko. They have taken nothing as of yet. Now, for the inquiry of this email, would I have better luck trying small chicks or Quail, seeing as how their favorite food is birds? And as for the Quail, Big Apple Herpetological sells one (1) day, one (1) week, two (2) week, three (3) week, six (6) week, and eight (8) week old Quail. Whoever chooses Quail as having better luck with, which size would be suitable for a 4'-4.5' Mangrove Snake? Please respond ASAP. Thanks.
