Would a snake with RI still have a health appetite?

Zhenchok Jun 23, 2004 11:24 PM

She eats at least 3 large mice a week without a problem and seems to be very active. She was always an aggressive feeder. When I try to pick her up, once in a while I'll hear a taint wheezing sound and will sometimes get a small amount of drool. Can some one give me some insight on this? Is she just stressed from being picked up? Or is this RI? Like I said it doesn’t happen all the time, but does sporadically. Is RI Contagious? Thanks, Dave.

I have found that many snakes continue to eat with minor RI. What are your day time and night time temps?

The hide stays around 95. But this snake is active at night and acts normally. If she does have RI, what can I do on my own to help her heal? Thanks, Dave.

I really need to know the hi and the low. One form of treatment for minor RI is to increase the temps. But before we do that we need to see what yours are currently at.

She is in a 45 gallon aquarium thats flipped on its side to give her more floor space. She is currently in her hide that is directly over the thermometer probe. The temperature reads 90.2.
The probe is also covered by a layer of newspaper. I'm not really sure what the other side reads. She only crawls there at night.
Thanks, Dave.
