Silly question

scottabir Jun 24, 2004 12:08 AM

Ok, this may sound silly but I was wondering if turtles enjoy the company of other turtles or do they prefer to be alone? I have a baby western painted and I was thinking about eventually getting a friend for it. What do you think, good idea or bad idea?

Thanks,
Abigail

I have two turtles that live well together, but they were together since they were babies. I have heard others say they have difficulties getting adult turtles to live together. I guess it would depend on the species and the individual temperment of the turtles.

I don't think you turt is lonely. Turtles are pretty solitary animals, rather than communal.
