Now the Male, not a Jaya

moosemonitor Jun 19, 2003 11:57 PM

This is my male JCP, hes only 5 feet (or close to it, mabey a bit above) and nice and thin. They are caged together, and get along well. I dont know why the female (Berber is her name) is so long, but she's old too. I was told shes 8 years old, an ex breeder, and shes got the personality of a kitten. Sweetest JCP I've ever beheld. Shaggy (the male) is younger, much less tame, and never bred.

Can't see a pic' here but, from the pics below, I have to agree with everyone else. The smaller snake is definately an IJ. I have seen indonesian exporters who label their IJs as Jungles so this could be where the confusion started.
I have kept a lot of Jungles and IJs over the years, as I'm sure most of the others posting have. I guess it's up to you if you want to ignore our opinions but I, for one, would want to be sure of what I had before breeding them and selling the offspring as "jungles".
Did you ID it yourself or was it sold to you as a jungle? If the latter, do you know how reliable the seller's info' was?
If you want a more focused body of opinion, you could try posting the pics on the moreliapythons.com site.

Try copying and pasting the link to the pic. That was the only way I could see it. BTW, I don't think that's a jungle either.

Hi guys!
I just wanted to post a link to a picture where you can see a IJ and JCP lying next to each other (the JCP is of a well known bloodline and is 100% pure, the IJ is wild caught).

Nice picture, nice animals, but not mine...

Maybe this can help distinguish between IJ and JCP

After seeing the picture of your female, I would agreee that she is NOT from IJ but on I guess your male is IJ for sure.

regards, sinael

All the way. Everyone here will tell you the exact same thing as well.

Most jungles have yellow tipping on serveral scales at most within the dark pattern elements. Some have the brown that yours shows in the dark pattern elements closest to their ventral surfaces. The large overall brownish cast of yours and the small adult size points to Irian Jaya. The pictures aren't the greatest, so it may be a trick of the eye thing, but from what we have seen in the past in other specimens all signs point closest to an IJCP.

Well I was asked to come back by a true friend and mentor in the carpet world, so I thought it was the best thing to do. Just suck up the harassment, not reply to those posts and continue helping those that actually want my help.
