celery greens?

sarahadele Jun 24, 2004 10:10 AM

While ive never seen "celery greens" for sale, whenever we buy whole stalks of celery there are 'greens' atop each stalk which get cut off and thrown out. Would it be OK to feed it to Zephyr instead?

There is a picture(top left) of celery with the greens still attached. I figure theyre fine, but want to make sure

Is celery bad for iggys? I never thought of giving them any. It seems like it would be a good source of water.

MikeD how are your hedgehogs doing? Sarahadele has 3 really cool hedgehogs.

hm I guess if you chopped it up well enough-otherwise its kind of hard to 'chew' maybe cut it into thin strips and throw it on the iguana salad..it isnt on the iguanaden "do not feed' list, either

The only thing about celery is it's just mostly water & indigestible fiber. That's why it's got such a rep as a "diet" vegetable. In fact, I remember hearing that it actually takes your body more calories just to digest it, than it gains from the celery.

If that's true, it's probably not the best thing for an ig. These guys need their calories!
