Moving - how to safely transport snake??

JLC Jun 24, 2004 11:26 AM

In about three weeks, we'll be moving from Virginia to Alabama. Professional movers will be packing and loading/unloading our stuff, but of course the animals will be traveling with us in the cars. We don't have room for their actual enclosures so we'll have to put them in something temporary until we get our stuff at the new house. They'll be in this temporary housing for at least a week...up to 10 days or so.

I've asked about our beardie on that forum, and thought I should ask about the snake specifically on this forum. At least daily feeding isn't an issue with the snake like it is for the lizard. What would you recommend as a temporary home that he will be comfortable in for the duration? Should I put him in a bag for the actual cross-country drive (which I expect to take two days)?

Thanks for any and all input y'all may have for me!

I would say to keep it in a bucket, that has a good number of air holes and a tight fitting lid, packed with moss.

I agree with mike.Get a 5 gallon bucket with a tight fitting lid or you could also use a plastic shoe box also with some holes drilled in. Just make sure the lid is tight and you have some moss in there which ever you decide to use.
