Yellow Ackies Monitors

haveagreenday Jun 24, 2004 01:20 PM

Hey I'm getting a yellow ackies monitor soon and I was wondering if they could be kept in a 4'x 2'x 2' terrarium. Thanks,

Yes it sure can, I would fill it about halfway full of dirt as well.

What kind of dirt do you recomend?

Thanks,

It really depends.

I would look for a sandy mixture with both small and large grains that drains yet still retains moisture, avoiding store bought stuff.

For young ones, as long as it doesn't have too much clay, isn't wet and maintains a burrow and humidity, it will probably work out ok. On nesting, I have no valuable input, this topic has been kicked around for many years, search the archives if you want more ideas.

Good Luck with the ackies,
