Rear Fanged question

chriscj Jun 24, 2004 01:20 PM

Are there any rear fanged species that are mildy venomous, small, and make good pets. Like hognoses

Heaps, particularly when you consider that all 'colubrids' are venomous but the majority are unlikely to cause any observable human symptoms. Ahaetulla are very interesting snakes but can be a bit problematic in captivity. Boiga are fairly hardy but many species get very large and produce quite significant amounts of venom. Some of the smaller species like B. drapiezii are quite nice but tend towards a lizard based diet. Hognosed are of course always a favorite.

All the best
