Spotted pythons hatched!

SalS Jun 24, 2004 05:09 PM

My spotted python laid 9 eggs on May 7. On June 22 (47 days later) they began to hatch! As of June 24, 5 of them have completely hatched, 1 is poking his head out of the egg, 2 have not hatched yet and 1 egg went bad. I incubated the eggs in a hovabator at 87-89 degrees. Not bad for my first clutch of oviparous snakes.

I have a female that is about 3 yrs. old but rather small for her age only 20-23 inches. I aquired her this yr. from a store who thought she was to agressive. I put her w/ an 35 inch male of an unknown age. Is she big enough to breed? she has stopped eating & has begun laying on her side. I breed colubrids but this is my first python species.
