I am a little confused about the candy canes. I thought you could not have a het for candy cane, only for the amel. Can someone explain this for me. Thanks for your help.

technically...they are only het for amel....

there is usually NO guarentee they will be pretty and red and white as you and we all like them to be

the better the parents..the better the odds..that they will grow up pretty

I have seen pretty reverse okeetees that were better candycanes//than a good candycane//////it was an accident......

they are bred to good miamis for generations or not.to get lighter and lighter background colors(white).....(as per R Zuchowski did years ago.and probably still does.)

I bred candy to candy...another candy to miami and another miami to candy./..........to get better eggs this year......

so far it is working.....hatched miamis and candies.....(better than duds)..and got candy to candy(RZ line) bred straight to each other.......and tonight I found a nice female miami from Thomas(works for Bells)..with 23 good eggs and 2 duds under her)/.......nice.......

so....

better parents ..better kids......

last year I had the best red and white candy I have seen in awhile (1 baby from a whole clutch)....

can't wait to see an updated pic.....(hint hint..LOL).....

oh yea..that's why you can get candies for $30 and some for as much as $80 on pricelists......whiter whites and smaller red saddles.....

Thanks for your help. I was thinking it was only amel but I saw someone selling candy hets so I needed clarification. Also, do you have a website where we can see pics of all your snakes? Thanks again.

they are just het amel..but it's easier to call them het candy if they are miami het amel...that will probably throw candy babies....

like saying amel het blizzard not amel het charcoal.....

or het butter instead of het caramel and amel.....

etc

.........had a website..not hardly any visiters and no sales at all........waste of money for me....I wholesale most stuff....even at the retail level......money now..instead of feed it all year for the chance to sell it a year later for the same baby price.....Pa is fun......LOL......

Allright I think im getting the whole candy deal now. So how many snakes do you have. Ive seen you in the ball forums as well. Do you breed anything else besides balls and corns? Ive got my first clutch of corns this year, should hatch in about a month or so. Hopefully next year Ill have some balls and western hogs ready to go as well. Thanks again.

corns about 80 or less...thinning down.......

balls ? 20 I forget......

got 60 ball eggs and not sure on corns...count on paper added to 450 one day...last night did a quick addup....got 700 eggs? .........some go bad........and 250 duds.....still added up to????? 450 good eggs?......

.....other than corn and ball....1.2 jungle carpets.....1 never laid (10 years) and one threw duds for 2 years now ( 6 yr good eggs)....

and a pr of jungle corn motleys.......

that's it....got rid of all milks,kings,pituophis,etc etc etc..trinkets even.....

going to balls more......more money.....(getting a pastel tomorrow .....).......

........I am on here enough ......and balls.......noone buys from me actually ...too dumb to go wholesale.....LOL....so I do alot of wholesale to dealers and petshop.......

how many petshops would buy 26 to 40 snakes at a time?...and actually sell them fairly quickly and buy more?///not many.............

OK almost there, I swear. LOL I was looking back over your earlier post. candy to candy =candy. Candy to miami = ?
You wont get candies from that will you. Would the miami have to be het amel then you get candies. I think im thinking too much about this. Those are some nice snakes you have. Too bad about that miami. And very cool pic of the ball egg. Heres a pic of my ghost from Kathy Love, ive posted it before but what the heck. I look forward to the day she is ready to breed.
