Twistnecks/Vietnamese Wood Turtle

DavidSch Jun 24, 2004 07:10 PM

I am purchasing a Waterland Tub for my pair of Twistnecks. Does anyone know if a pair of Vietnamese Wood Tutles would be OK to keep with them in the same set up? The water level would be very shallow for the Twistnecks as they aren't good swimmers.
Thanks,
David Schafer

no, no. no. You are speaking of Geomyda spengleri? They wont live in water. I have 2. They live in a 40breeder, with potting soil on the bottom, and spagnum moss covering it. They have a water dish that they can both soak in, but they do not swim.

Are the twistnecks from the same part of the world as the Vietnamese wood turtles? It's not a good idea to mix species from different locations - you run the risk of cross contamination, and one species could give the other a disease they can't handle. I'm not just talking about intestinal parasites, there's also mycoplasma, other bacteria, and viruses to think about.
