Current status on the baby

Aesear Jun 20, 2003 12:52 AM

Just wanted to give you all an update on the status of the baby that hatched this morning with the egg yolk sac still hanging from its belly. She is doing well now, scampering around in her little enclosure inside the incubator. she is bright eyed and alert and the sac has detached itself. she is still oozing a little bit but it is a clear liquid with no blood and there isn't much of it. she is on the damp paper towels as reccomended and it looks like she will do ok! also thanks for letting me know about not helping them out of the egg. I promise I will never do it again. I was just so worried that she was going to die because I had heard that once they pipped the egg they needed to get out quickly or they would suffocate. when I saw her eyes closed and her not moving I feared for the worst. I'd never seen one hatch before so I had no idea it was natural for them to rest. I'm so relieved that she is looking well. I will post a picture of her soon. THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!!!!

congrats! make sure her paper towels are kept moist until she is all the way healed, also for cleanliness chage her paper towels everyday until she is healed, i had one come out with alot of yold and it disconected and sorta tore her i was freakin out LOL i called a friend of mine and they said that happens sometimes and nothing to worry about just to keep it very clean and moist. he had also told me to get a q-tip and put some betadine solution on it and just dab directly on the area the unbiolicle was and i did..little thing healed immediately and is doing great, no ill effects what so ever. good luck with your baby
