Not sure about a "Guide" But its really simple. You take some sticks of like 2x2 wood and make the frame of the cage, get it so far? then you put ply wood sheets on the outside of the wood frame you made. On the Frame, Dont put it all together yet, it will make things to difficult. Do like the walls the the top, and bottom, seperatly and put it all together in the end. For the front, i did about a 1 foot lip on the top, and the bottom, and in the middle i used 3/16ths glass doors, 2 doors that open out. The doors were just skinny wooden picture frames, but it was a custom size. Also make sure to use all purpose aquarium sealent on the inside where the wood comes together (where the frame meets the ply wood you know). And use a water based polyurathane on the inside walls, 2-3 coats will work.
Its really hard to explain, and i probally did a bad job of it.
There is a book out by Barrons publishing (i think that's the company) on building and decorating home made terariums. Not on line but a fabulous book. We used to have it here at the store
The best way I could describe it is, it's just like framing a room in a house, just on a smaller scale.
