I know I havnt been here in a while so Ive missed any posts from you about Beanie. I remember you were considering euthanasia a while back if you couldnt get her to eat. Hows she doing?

Beanie is doing well right now. She is eating every day on
her own. She doesn't eat alot but the vet said that's OK because
she is eating enough to sustain herself.

There were some problems the vet addressed. Beanie was
only pooping 1 time every 3 weeks if we were lucky. The
vet felt that a calcium deficiency could be the problem even
though her blood work is Ok still. I am giving her 1/2 tums
crushed each day via syringe. I am also giving 10 cc water
each day to make sure she is well hydrated. Low and behold
the vet was right. After about 4-5 days of supplementation
she is pooping about 2 times a week. The vet was hoping for
at least 1 time a week. She said that pooping and eating
go hand and hand. The more she poops, the hungrier she should
be.

Beanie will always have multiple problems according to the
vet because of her very poor care. She also feels that Beanie is
older than expected but still very small. She feels that
eventually the problems will catch up, she is just not sure
when. We agreed that we would take everything 1 day at a
time. Beanie is active, alert and friendly as ever (to me)
The vet said her behavior is abnormal for an ig, but I think
it is because Beanie has grown to trust me and is very tame.

Thanks for asking. Sorry for the long post. I am feeling
quite talkative this morning

PS: I'm not sure if you saw my last post but I have taken
in a new baby to foster for PHFaust. I have 3 igs now....

I am going to try to get some new pictures this weekend
of Beanie, Digit and Gizmo(foster baby).

Wow, that sounds great Linda! I know its not ideal, but she is finally eating on her own, and maintaining herself, which is huge progress. Glad to hear your patience and caring is starting to pay off, and grats on the 3rd ig too
