we just received a pair of Albino Blue Tegus on loan from a good friend, it looks to be the start of a new breeding group. at this point, they are still acclimating and settling in, but they are already quite interesting lizards!

Geez Robyn, another project!? Welcome to the fun world of Tegus!! This forum is friendly and informative. I will be pleased to see your input and observations here.
Here are just a couple of our dozen or so Tegus.

You have one of the best and most educational web sites. Maybe you will have a new favorite lizard instead of the ackies. I really like your video on how to make a hide box out of a plant saucer. I saw that and thought, why didn't I think of that, too?

This forum is much more freindly than that "other" forum Robin. You are going to like it here. I have been "lurking" on both forums for months.
By the way, I am copying your great idea with using the oval cattle trough as a base and building up from that. The finished cage will be 3 1/2 ft deep, 8 ft long, 6 ft tall. The trough is completely filled up with a mix of dirt, mulch, and a 1 1/2 ft by 6 ft hollowed out tree trunk stuck in diagonally. I'm starting to build the top half. Thank you for the inspiration.
I hope you decide to breed Tegus Robin, it will be good for all to have another major player in the biz. I have 3 sub adult reds, 30-36 inches long. Great lizards!
Malone out.

Welcome, Robyn, to the wonderful world of tegus. I'm surprised you haven't had the pleasure before. Great bunch of people on this forum. You'll find, I think, that tegus have all the personality of monitors and then some.
