Our nights total find for 6-24-04 South Carolina

tribal prop Jun 25, 2004 06:04 AM

We went out road cruising last night in a South East section of South Carolina and we did surprisingly well. We have been out a few times this week and it has really been hit or miss (mostly miss)An earlier trip produced a Red bellied water snake, juvenile cotton mouth and a canebrake rattle snake (DOR) I would have to say last night was much better. We have still yet to find a few target species but all in all we really can't complain.

1 Corn snake (DOR) he died right in my hands
1 Greenish rat snake juvenile
4 Cotton mouths 1 live 3 (DOR) All healthy adults
15 Copper Heads only one (DOR) many, many juveniles
1 Garter snake (DOR) Another fresh kill

I hope to go out again tonight as our vacation draws to a close but if not we only live a few hours away and we can try again latter.

Mike, sorry for the delay in our response. The weather appeared to be the same, but we changed our venue. The place where we did so well is further north east of where we met. The over all appearance of the locations is about the same, standing or slow moving black water, pine trees, thick under brush etc. I think it was just a good night. We never went back out there and now we are home in Central Florida. We have hopes of getting back up there before the fall, but who knows.
