Pacman frog not eating!!??

reecefam Jun 25, 2004 08:56 AM

Hi, I just recently got a medium sized pacman frog and I have had him close to a week now. He has not accepted any type of food yet, I imagine he is just adjusting to his new environment but is this normal? Has anybody else had this experience with a new pacman, please help!

Mine dind't eat for about a week. Maybe even a week and a half...?
He/She is probably just adjusting, but just to be sure:
What is the tempratue in the tank?
How high is the humidity?
How big is the tank?
What are you keeping him on?

He is in a 10 gallon tank with coconut substrate and some moss with a water bowl in the corner. The temp usually stays in the range of 80 degrees and humidity about 65-70, there is also a cobra heat pad on the lower side(not the bottom). He always sits near that heat pad though, which must be in the range of the upper 80's.

Ok, I'm not sure, but I think tempratures should probably be around high/mid 70:s, low 80:s. You may remove the moss if you want, it can be harder to digest for your frog, if it is eaten by accident. Humidity sounds fine.
Coconut fiber I don't really know anything about.
You could reply (if you want) if the frog has started eating.

Okay, today when I was cleaning his aquarium I found some waste in there that was mostly moss!! So for some reason he was "grazing" on the moss? So I have taken out all of the moss and left him with only the water bowl and coconut substrate. Then I turned off his heat mat, the aquarium stays at 80 or slightly lower at all times anyway. I will just wait and see if this has any effect on him not eating.

I would suggest keeping them in the mid-70s and the low 80s as a general maximum temperature.
