I would think so. It's supply and demand; flood the market, the price goes down. The breeders could hold most of their stock to keep the supply low. But Pastels have been slowly dropping in price over the years. I've seen them for $650 already.

I think that there is a demand for pastels. Nice looking as well a poor looking ones. It is a quick dollar animal. [1 male to two normal females each 4 eggs. Each have 2 pastel males in their clutch. $500.00 each that is 2k per year at that low of a price.] I am kicking myself for thinking that the market will drop. I sold a nice looking male three years ago. I wish I had him now!!!!!!

It depends on how u look at it...The market price for males may be declining, but the market for males is increasing...I mean once the price of a male hits $500-600 everyone will be buying them to breed, and at that price so many more people can and are willing to buy one instead of paying $1k....Though it will be hard to find a very nice male for under $900 in the next yr. or two...People say they've seen pastels for $650, the only ones I have seen for this were ch imports that were being sold as pastels and were normal ball pythons....Now you most likely can pick up an ugly pastel male this season for $700 but it's worth it to spend the extra $300 and get a killer specimen...After all they are sold on a graded basis for the most part and if u are using an ugly parent to sell pastels than it will be that much harder to sell...Now the price of females is pretty much where it's gonna stay for a while..We'll probably see it dropping to $1500 but it will hold there for a while...First off you get a super from pastel x pastel breeding and secondly alot of breeders are holding back most if not all of their females....With all the designer crosses made with pastels; bumble bee, killer bee, pastave, super pastel, pastel hypo, etc....It makes more sense for a breeder going after designer crosses to have a female pastel breeder and a spider male or mojave male or pastel het. hypo male...So right there is a demand for females....So just that will probably keep the price of females around the $1500 ....Now they could go for more or less but remember that top notch quality costs top dollar...Yea u can go buy a female pastel for $1500 right now even when the market for them is $2000-2200..But a $1500 will be stone ugly...Now I know there are deals and local breeders who just want to move animals but this is all generally speaking..These prices are based on where the bigger breeders are keeping them..Yea can you go to a local guy and get a pastel male for $700, probably can....But even the big breeder that is selling them for $1k-1200 is still going to sell out cuz he has quality top of the line specimen's that people are willing to pay the extra buck for..

I keep hearing the price on Pastels are dropping. Funny thing is, the only people saying that are people without Pastels!
Now, if we go by what we see on Kingsnake ad section, the bottom feeders trying to pass off WC balls as Pastels for $650-$800 each, sure we can say THEY ARE DROPPING.... but lets me honest, first off, hardly anyone is going to be parting with their females that they produce, secondly, everyone who doesn't have a pastel in thier collection, wants a pastel ( in their collection). Most novice wants the price to fall so they don't have to spend 1k on an animal (male naturally), they hope, they wish for the prices to fall. And they will be the first one's complaining when they finally get to breed pastels, wishing the prices where high like they were back in the good old days (last year!).
So, I call these people "well wishers". They only try to keep the topics going "prices falling on Pastels", wanting them to fall, while the breeders are actually producing and selling their animals at the currnet market value of $1k or up on males, and $2k and up on females.
It was stated, that someone saw some for sale for $650....
tell you what you buy them and if they are true pastels, and females, I'll give you $1,200 each for them, Hey, double your money!!!
