in the wild the checkered whiptail has four or five hybrids.over its range it has bred with five different species including the racerunner.the checkered whiptail is a species where every animal is female so this could have something to do with it.

Hello Staples and Nick:
There are many types of lizards that will interbreed just like snakes. Some of the most notorious examples can be found in the genus Tiliqua (Blue-Tongue Skinks). People get two skinks from different areas and breed them together to create all kinds of taxonomic nightmares.

so do you think it would be possible with a crested and a Gargoyle Gecko?

You really shoudnt experiment and try to make hybrids. hybrids usually have some genetic problem, like inability to reproduce. it is probably possible but will be difficult to do. you really just shoudnt try it.

yeah thats true with playing mothernature and all but there inability to reproduce is a good thing. I wouldnt want hybrids to getting loose and couseing somthing like the killer bees did. Being highly unlikly this mix would even come close to that distruction. Anyway my point is that if this does happend it would be a one time thing and the hybrid would be treated better then people who just breed for profit you know. I would keep it instead of just selling it and writing it off. I think that it would have a better future then most sold lizards that are bred for profit. Anyway if nature does take its course with out any help from me then it will. I was just wondering if it was possible and to see if anyone has tried it or any kind of lizard hybrids before so the question is still out thier.
