Did you hear...

The found a guys car in Big Bend Park and the owner is missing.
Can't find a body or anything. Heard it on the news last night.

Didn't realize that the area was so dangerous.
It is a shame that they can't use all those Rangers to help look for people rather than look for snake rustlers.

They found a dead guy out there in May. From NY I believe. Hiking with no water...then there was "naked guy" from San Antonio last year.

a naked guy last year ? There was the " naked " guy some years ago that decided to walk/hike off of 118 and an all points hunt was on for him but the hunt went the opposite way of his parked vehicle. It seems he walked up the Santiago Peak range and lived on ants and collected water from the agave plants. He was found in fairly good shape for being out 3 days 2 nights ( or something like that ) but was only wearing his sneakers and socks and NOTHING else.

No, this was a guy from SA who would ride his bike through his neighborhood wearing only a thong. They found his body out in BBNP, clothes on the cliff above him. It was either last year or the year before.

earlier this past week i was called in on another search trip to look for this missing guy. i spent eight hours hiking from the mule ears to sierra de la punta. camped that night on a base, and spent the next day hiking south of the mule ears. the only thing my group found was a fresh, torn piece of a shirt on an acacia. as far as i have heard, they havent found this guy. im heading another mission on the north and hiking south on a loop.

the fatality in the first of june was on the grapevine hills trail. i can disclose any information that wasnt published. but i can say that dont hike in an area where the temperature will exceed 115 by 1300hrs, unless you are experienced. and experience means not taking the risk. i drank fourteen litres of water on a twelve mile hike around the dominguez springs area of big bend. the radiant temp reached 121. i melted the plastic straps on my sandals, and my watch band fell off. the empty plastic bottles i had in my pack shriveled, and the plastic on my sunglasses was putty.
