Heat Rope?

Justin Stricklin Jun 25, 2004 04:11 PM

Has anyone ever used heat rope. I saw it under heating on bigappleherp.com. Do you think I could mount it some how on the top or sides and use a thermostat to control the heat. I donn't know if it would put out enough heat though. If I can just get this heating thing straitened out I'll start building it.

any heating source like rope or tape, I would definitely put on the bottom. You will lose a ton if you put it on the sides.

Do you think I could make it go on the sides of the corner that I want the heat to be on?

you can put it on the side, but you are going to be losing a ton of heat that way. usually you use heat tape and such to give them a warmer spot to sit on, and to heat the cage. Heat move mostly up, and the snake is going to be on the floor for the most part. Puttin it on the side is just going to use a lot more energy to accomplish the same thing.

Is there a reason you cant put it on the underside?

I can put it anywhere. I was a bit worried about the snake getting burned or of it craping or urinating on the heat tape itself. Don't worry, I am going to use a rheostat to control temp. Do you think I can put it on the outside of the bottom? The wood is about 3/4" thick. Would that heat up enough? I am going to paint the inside especially put a thick coat in the corners so that when it relieves itself I can clean it up better and i wont drain in the cracks.
