Pic of ringneck snakes eating

HerperHelmz Jun 25, 2004 05:05 PM

I would like to see more pictures of ringneck snakes eating somewhere on the internet. I'm gonna post all the pics of them eating that I have found and/or took.

This is my favorite, regal ringneck snake eating a DOR rosy boa.

Here is a pic of my southern ringneck at the beginning of eating a green tree frog. Sorry for the bad quality of the pic.

Those were the only pics I have and/or could find. If anybody out there has any pics of ringneck snakes eating that were not shown here, post them. I can find many many pics on the internet of garter snakes eating, water snakes eating, or corn snakes eating. Not too many pics of ringnecks eating though.

Man! you realy are obsessed with ringnecks. Why don't you go traveling across the US and catch every subspecies. lol. I would love to have a regal my self. I also like the monterey. I was going to ask some of the people who catch and sale herps at a show and see if they could get a hold of any ringnecks. Now that I like them a whole bunch I can't find them. That is ow it is eveytime I get interested in something. My eggs are goign to hacth in a few weeks and I'll trry to get pics of them eating. I hope I can get them to eat great.

lol yeah I guess you can say I am obsessed. Regal ringneck snakes are just awesome. Especially if you can supply alot of feeder snakes or lizards. Larger ones will live on small racers, coachwips, whip snakes, and any other snake that they can fit in their mouth. Which, I have seen pics of a 16 inch regal ringneck eating a 20 inch long whip snake. I wouldn't of though it was possibly, but it did finish. When your eggs hatch, take some pics of the babies, front and bottom, I am curious as to whcih sub-species you have. I have a total of 14 eggs in the incubtor right now, all fertile, from only 5 ringnecks.

only eggs i have are 3 ring neck, 2 musk/mud turtle,(I keep mud and musk togehter), 2 racer eggs. I have my doubts about the racer eggs hatching. One of the last 2 is being attacked by fungus. I tried somehting I have never heard of . It is not going to kill the egg any worse than the fungus so I decided to put some vita shell oon the last two eggs from the racer. It is sopposed to kill fungus on turtles so maybe I stubled upon something? I'll let eveyone know in a few days if the ungus died. I have a buch of those baby toads you find in the spring/early summer in the freezer and can catch many more. Also I have been breeding tree frogs a little bit. All you gotta do is leave out a big container of water and they'll lay eggs in it. I will collect many and freeze them. I have a buch of tree frogs in my yard so I'll have plenty. I have several tubs and containers out side and tad pole are out there.

only 2 racer eggs, man I thought it laid like 6. I read in one of the forums that you water-logged the substrate they were kept on. lol you are not good with eggs. What kind of musk turtles do you have? I have 2 very tiny loggerheads, awesome turtles.

Well actualy I think I'm pretty good with eggs. I have very few egs to not hatch. Just this one cluthc messed up. Actually I messed up. I got in a hurry and did not squeeze the vermiculite out very good and I went somewhere. I ot back that night and I noticed a little bit of green ont he end of 3 eggs. I went and got soe perlite to try it out (thanx to whoever it was on this forum for perlite info) and they seemed to be doing good till yesterday. All the rest fo my eggs are doing great. I think one thing about it maybe that I had to cut the mother open to get the rest of the eggs because she died. Maybe i got soem bacteria on it. All I know is that this is the first year I've had trouble with fungus. i hope it is not the begining of a trend.

If they are going to eat coachwhips, they would only be able to handle pretty small ones. A nice sized coachwhip would take a ringneck out easily. I don't know if you have ever caught or kept coachwhips, but it is quite a sight.
