Beginning to water dragons

dmlove Jun 25, 2004 05:39 PM

Im interested in getting into a water dragon or two. Ive read books, care sheets, etc. I have and breed a few bearded dragons and i am not new to herps. Anyone rate these dragons on a hardness to take care of scale? Are they hard to take care of? Do they tame down very well? How often do you feed adult dragons, everyday? Thanks for the input, and any hints are greatly apprectiated. Thanks.

They get somewhat tame usually, but not to the same level as a bearded dragon. They are more skittish and can run very fast. Mine ate everyday until they were about 2 years old, then I switched to every other day. I kept my babies in a 55 gallon tank, and once they got to be about 14 inches or so I moved them into a 350 gallon terrerium. They are not as hardy as a beardie, but easier to keep than a chameleon. For your first one I would suggest getting a male, so you don't have to worry about egg laying.
