A good deal?

thomasboxertko Jun 25, 2004 08:39 PM

Ok a guy at my work is willing to buy me a pair of 100%het albinos so i can raise them together the only catch is that i have to give him the first born albino from the pair. My question is would you guys and girls do it? I figure i get 2 great snakes anyway so why not try to get albinos. Any advice would help. Thanks Thomas

Hi, I think it would be a really good deal... the only thing is that it takes a while to raise the females to breeding size... just let your friend know that it'll most likely be around 3-4 years till he has the chance to get one... if you breed a het to het then you have a 25% to get a albino... just make sure that your 100% hets are really hets or else your friend might be a little mad when you breed the hets over and over with no albinos...

Just my 2 cents

IMHO,

I think it's a great deal as long as you both have a mutual agreement. An adult pair of hets is an easy $1,000, so the first year even if he takes your only albino your sitting pretty. I would negotiate terms prior to the purchase that dictates CLEARLY what will happen if an albino is not hatched. It may not hurt to write out the paper work and have it signed by all parties involved. Hell, get a witness!

Good Luck,
Todd

If your not interested tell him to contact me lol

Why would you need to ask???
Unless you can't afford or just don't want any more snakes.

No brainer, but then again, I take in all types of strays, so something I want for free sounds real good to me.

Yeah, I say that's a great deal. However, make CERTAIN you get something in writing that specifies the details of the arrangement. Also, heed the prior advice that you will most likely not get a clutch until 4 years later... and you may or may not get an albino. Also understand that the non-albinos are going to be 66% "possible hets" for albino.

But hell yeah, snakes for free?... can't beat that!
