Anyone going to Daytona this year......

Hoppy Jun 25, 2004 09:58 PM

I just reserved a room at the Adams Mark for Friday and Saturday Night during the Expo for the Wife and I. We had to pay extra for the room because the "Block" of rooms set aside for the expo is sold out, so instead of paying $99.00 per night, we had to pay $132.00 for the first night and $165.00 for the second (with AAA discounts LOL) Oh well I guess that is what I get for waiting this long to reserve the room. So if you are not going because you were told they were sold out, ask about rooms outside the Expo block, you will pay more for them, but at least you will still be at the heart of the action. Let me know who is going, i would like to meet some of the people that I talk/write with LOL
See ya there

I really wanted to go this year and meet some of the breeders I've purchased from over the years in that part of the country. I am about 99.9% sure I'll go next year but this year seems to be getting more and more ugly, financially speaking. I can tell you one thing...if I do go next year, I'll likely need a large budget b/c from what I hear, EVERYTHING and anything you could ever want to buy is available. I just can't imagine how anyone who lives far away (and takes a flight) manages to get their new reptiles back home. Mail them and hope they're on your porch when you get home? ? ? ? lol

talk to the one or two who you spent the most $$$ with, and ask them to ship everything back to you in one box, after the show, so you will be there when it arrives.

If you are on a budget, don't waste your money on the fancy hotels. If you have a car available to you, just drive up and down the main road a mile or two and you will see lots of cheaper hotels. If not, there are several hotels within walking distance that will be somewhat cheaper, but you should probably call ahead if you won't have a vehicle. It is the slow season with lots of vacancies. Last year we paid about $30 per night for a clean, but older motel room with a little fridge in it. It was across the highway from the beach, and about 1 -2 miles away from the show, so that made it cheaper. We have never yet had time for the beach, so it didn't matter to us.

Hope to see many of you there!

I making a NRBS/Disney trip down there (I have three daughters).
I'm flying in and what I will do is pay for the herps I pick out plus shipping and have the breeder ship them to me when I get back.I havn't been since it was in Orlando. I can't wait. the selection is overwelming.
